I had a somewhat confusing conversation yesterday evening with Jim Addler, the man in charge of building the new Kristi Yamaguchi playground in Central Park. Yamaguchi’s Always Dream Foundation, which is having a big fundraiser for the park May 31, doesn’t have all the money lined up for it, he said.
The non-profit is really dependent on unions providing free labor, so if the unions are free in May, Yamaguchi will find a way to do it, Addler said. But there’s no guarantee that the project is going to start in May. Since the workers are donating the labor, it will their call as to when they can do the work.
