I wish it was still called Rt. 84. The East-West Connector Project doesn’t have the same pizazz.
The $200 million road project got approval from Union City and Fremont this month, but it still isn’t fully funded. That’s where the feds come in. The project has been nominated to receive $80 million in federal funding, said Art Dao of the Alameda County Transportation Authority.
It probably won’t get all of it, but even if it got half, that would go a long way toward starting construction by the end of 2011.
