I stole this from Fremont’s Human Relations Commission.
From Jan. through March 2008, the Tri-City Free Breakfast program served 4,258 guests.
During those same three months this year, the total was 6,296 — a 48 percent increase.
Volunteer hours increased by one-third.

What a sad comment on the state of the economy. For anyone who wants to volunteer, they don’t appear to have a website, but here’s a link

to the Volunteer Center of the East Bay for the Tri-City Free Breakfast Program. They serve on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 5:00 – 9:15 a.m. Volunteers can come any time during working hours and need not make a long-term commitment. They’re in the Social Hall at Irvington Presbyterian Church, 4181 Irvington Avenue, between Chapel and Trimboli, near Irvington Cemetary and the Post Office. The contact person is Linda DeStigter, Program Director, no phone listed, but fax (510) 657-7040.
