Calling PG&E got you only a recorded message, which originally promised restoration at 5:30. The message was updated to estimate 9:30 p.m. and offered a callback with status updates. But there was no power at 9:30 and no callback.

I’m still puzzled. There didn’t appear to be any digging going on along Paseo Padre that night. The PG&E crews seemed to be clustered along Tamayo. And the word on the street was that the outage was caused by an electrical fire at the Lucky store–which incidentally was ablaze with lights while we were in the dark.
