Fremont to be only a six McDonald’s town for five months

The McDonald’s at 40708 Grimmer Boulevard will be closed for about five months starting Friday. The restaurant, once owned by Fremont’s Hamburger King Al Benardin, and now owned by his son, Mark, will be torn down and rebuilt. I don’t know why.
But I do know that from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday local celebs like Councilmember Bill Harrison will be flipping burgers for charity.

Does Kathy McDonald have any connection to McDonald’s restaurants?
Kidding.
I just found it ironic there were three posts in a row with McDonald in the headline.
Hey Martz, where are they flipping burgers for charity? At the Grimmer location?

Ahh yes, what would a McDonalds be without a drive-thru window? As we struggle with rampant obesity issues and try to become less automobile centric, a retro MickeyDee’s is just what we need. Will they be serving retro portions at retro prices?

I will miss this McDonald’s as it provided me a quick breakfast when I was running late for work. I don’t usually get time for lunch. I feel very sorry for the workers who have lost their jobs during this crappy economic quagmire.

The new McDonald’s doesn’t have the comfortable view of the old shopping center and bowling alley. Instead it has an uncomfortable view for the government housing projects.
It seems less ‘down home’ inviting inside; it’s almost clinical instead. It beats not having a McDonalds near by though and I have been and will be doing business there.
The fog of this economic quagmire is still upon us. I hope for better in 2012.
