A Niles group is organizing a march against crime. The cops have told them that crime is up throughout Fremont, and they think marching along the sidewalks of Niles one Thursday night might deter criminals. Sounds like a job for the Open Carry Movement

The organizers are calling it Take Back the Night, but I don’t think it will bear much resemblance to the anti-date rape marches of the same name that were an annual occurrence on my college campus back in the mid-90s. Those were marked by loud chants from a large contingent of  “womyn” and marred by the blasting of a certain Nirvana song in the dorms.
