The U.S. Postal Service has scheduled an April 21 meeting at Niles Elementary School to let Niles residents know whether or not its post office will be recommended for closure.
“The district manager doesn’t feel that the community at large really understands what we’re facing ,and he wants to make sure they’re clear on that.” Post Office spokesman Gus Ruiz said.
Niles is one of six post offices in the Bay District threatened with closure, along with two in Berkeley, two in Oakland and one in Richmond, Ruiz said.
The last time the feds came to Fremont (on Friday) they delivered good news in the form of a $333,000 check. Do the Feds only like to show when on happy occasions, or do the Feds giveth and then taketh away? We’ll know in a week — and I’ll try to find out sooner.
