Fremont asst. supe to head Pleasanton Unified

Parvin Ahmadi, assistant superintendent of instruction for Fremont Unified, has accepted a position as the superintendent of Pleasanton Unified for next year (press release below).

Those of you who follow Fremont school news know that the current schools chief, Milt Werner, is retiring. Some people I’ve spoken to over the past months thought that Parvin might apply for his job. I don’ t know if she did or not, but this latest news certainly is interesting.

Our Pleasanton schools reporter is working on the story about Parvin. Meanwhile, here’s the press release from Pleasanton Unified (in blue):

PUSD Board of Trustees announces selection of new superintendent

The Board of Trustees of the Pleasanton Unified School District (PUSD) is pleased to announce the selection of Parvin Ahmadi as the new Superintendent of Pleasanton Unified, pending final approval of the Board.

Ms. Ahmadi will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Dr. John Casey, effective June 30.

Ms. Ahmadi has served for two years as the Assistant Superintendent of Instruction for the Fremont Unified School District (FUSD), a district with an enrollment of approximately 32,000 students.  In her current position, she oversees areas including assessment; elementary and secondary education; special education; instructional materials; and pupil services.  She began her career in education as a teacher in the Mount Pleasant School District in San Jose, working in kindergarten, 1st, 5th, and 6th grades.  She moved to the Fremont district in 1997 as a 6th grade teacher, then served as a vice principal and then a principal at two elementary schools.  In 2005, she moved to the FUSD District Office as the Director of Elementary Education and was promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2008.  Ms. Ahmadi has a B.S. in Health Science from San Jose State, an M.A. in Teaching from National-Louis University, and an M.S. in Educational Administration from St. Mary’s College.

A resident of Fremont, Ms. Ahmadi is active in the community as a member of Rotary and the American Association of University Women.  She also serves on the Executive Board of the Fremont Education Foundation and has been actively involved in various area and county education-related organizations.  Through her work, Ms. Ahmadi has formed partnerships with Ohlone College and California State University East Bay, along with the City of Fremont and local businesses.

Ms. Ahmadi says, “I look forward to working with the Pleasanton Unified School District’s Board of Trustees, students, staff, and community.

Pleasanton is a high-performing school district with a clear vision and core values that help prepare well-rounded students for the twenty-first century. Working with the team in Pleasanton, I plan to continue the impressive work that has resulted in high academic achievement, while focusing on the social and emotional needs of all students. I am truly honored to be selected the new Superintendent in Pleasanton and eager to serve the students and the community.”

Chris Grant, President of the PUSD Board of Trustees, says, “Ms. Ahmadi’s deep commitment to academic excellence, rich experience working within a diverse community, and collaborative and communicative style make her an ideal fit for Pleasanton.”  Grant went on to say, “We have outstanding teachers and staff and an already stellar management team. It was important to the Board of Trustees that we chose a superintendent with the ability to maintain the culture and values of the district, while further advancing student enrichment, academic excellence, and social well being.

We are very confident Ms. Ahmadi will have a profound and positive impact on our district.”

In arriving at their unanimous selection of Ms. Ahmadi, the PUSD Board of Trustees conducted a nation-wide search, accepted community input, and included a community panel in the interview process.  It is anticipated that Ms. Ahmadi’s selection will be finalized at the PUSD Board of Trustees meeting scheduled for Tuesday, May 11, at 7 p.m.

Thankless? This lady is making $238,000.00 dollars a year plus travel expenses, car, cell phone and many, many perks… Unions need to get back to reality as they attack private sector jobs, capitalism and cry socialistic fair wage programs…

Unbelievable. No wonder so many companies and PEOPLe are sick of California.
