To no one’s surprise, Ohlone College Trustee Garrett Yee won for Best Elected Official, besting his opponent in next month’s Assembly Primary, Fremont Councilman Bob Wieckowski, who won the award last year.
Yee’s Assembly campaign emailed supporters, asking them to vote for him, and it’s easy to imagine Wieckowski’s campaign — and many other top finishers — having done the same.
Lara York, of the Fremont School Board, finished third.
One of Yee’s biggest supporters, Former Assemblyman John Dutra, finished second for Best Realtor and third for Best Business Person. But his son, John Jr. won for best Mortgage Broker.
And, last but not least, Fremont City Council candidate Ishan Shah, a senior at Mission San Jose (Fremont’s best High School, according to voters) won for Best Innovative Thinker.

This was a pretty big surprise. Nobody told me I won anything until the actual edition came out! Really cool nonetheless. Its an honor I’ll wear proudly.
