Matt: You mixed up the facts. The College sent out 55,000 documents at total cost of $20,000 for a total cost of $.36 per item. We sent out four different mailers. what you posted here was the fourth mailer. All of the mailers (and all of the pages of each mailer) can be viewed on the Ohlone web page discussing facility needs, ohlone.edu/org/needs. Would you please fix the error in the blog posting above? I don’t want to count on people reading all the comments to find out that you had mixed up the numbers.

Andrew, I asked if this was the whole document in my first line. Even so, at $2.75 each, even if it is fourpages, it is far too expensive. Matt might have had the distribution number wrong. I can’t figure out what a universe of 20K is in the Fremont/Newark area, so it probably is wrong. I hope it is. I do, in fact, support the facility upgrade project.

I went to a Muscle car show at Ohlone College about a month ago. I was shock to see what bad shape the campus was in. It looked like it was abandoned and was over-run by ground squirrels. It used to look sharp but now is completly run down. Why?

It is clear from the scanned images that this is NOT the whole document. The two half-circle, sticker, mailing closers stand out against the front image. There is, in fact, more inside.

You ask a question, but then rush to judgment…

“As I said, this flyer (sic) says little, if anything.”

…before getting the answer or finding out yourself.

This seems unfair at best.

Is that the whole document? It says nothing and costs $2.75 each ($55000/20000). At that rate, Wieckowski/Yee would have spent millions on their mail program.

Ohlone gets pass through money from RD to assuage their problems with RD collecting the tax increment. It is discretionary funding for them once it is in their hands. State law permits an agency to print and mail informational stuff, by not advocacy stuff. Sometimes the borders get smudged, but not this time. As I said, this flyer says little, if anything.

I love this part. It could be part of a job description for a Democratic state legislator:

WANTED: State Legislator, Democratic Party.

All applicants should possess the following:

*Exceptional verbal communication skills in Spanish.

*Proficiency using taxpayer money to sell taxpayers on the value of taxing themselves.

*Must believe the bane of our existence is the ratio of 2 over 3.

All applicants should submit their resume to the SEIU, CTA or their local CSEA representative.
