Fremont Recreation Commissioner and former Chicago Cub and San Francisco Giant Shawon Dunston resigned from the Fremont Recreation Commission last week because of schedule conflicts. He’s a roving minor league coach for the Giants.

I’m still going to go to tonight’s meeting on the skate park even though the commission is now just a bunch of nobodies. Best I can tell, Dunston’s departure leaves former cable television flower shop pitchman Dirk Lorenz as Fremont’s most recognizable commissioner.
