New Fremont Principals

The school district was kind enough to email me bios of the six new Fremont principals. Here they are:

Brian Weems has been appointed Principal at Walters Jr. High School
Mr. Weems began his career in 1997 as a 6th grade teacher in the Hayward Unified School District. He came to Fremont in 1998 as a 6th grade teacher at Grimmer Elementary School where he taught 5th and 6th grade until 2005. He became the interim Vice Principal at Hopkins Junior High in 2005 and then served as the Assistant Principal at Kennedy High School from 2006 to 2009. Prior to this appointment as Principal at Walters, he was the Vice Principal at Hopkins Junior High School.

Judy Nye has been appointed the Interim Principal of Grimmer Elementary school.
Mrs. Nye began her educational career in Fremont as a student teacher in 2001. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and Computer Science and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Nye taught 3rd grade at Azevada, 4th grade at Glenmoor Elementary, and worked as a Teacher on Special Assignment with the Department of Federal and State Projects prior to her appointment as Principal at Grimmer.

Steve Musto has been appointed the Interim Principal of Horner Jr. High School.
Mr. Musto began his career in education in 1999 as a high school social studies teacher with the Romulus Community Schools in Michigan. He came to Fremont in 2002 and began teaching social studies at Irvington High School. In 2007, he became the Assistant Principal of Irvington High School. He then became Vice Principal at Irvington in 2008 and served in that role until his appointment as Principal at Horner.

Kimberly Kelly has been appointed the Interim Principal of Harvey Green Elementary School.
Ms. Kelly began her educational career in Fremont in 1998 as a student teacher. She began teaching 3rd grade at Parkmont Elementary School in 1998 where she has remained a dedicated teacher and school site leader. For the past 12 years, prior to her appointment as Principal at Green, she was involved in a wide range of leadership roles at her school and on District committees.

Greg Bailey has been appointed Principal of American High School
Mr. Bailey began his educational career as a Physical Education teacher at J W Fair Middle School in San Jose. He then came to Fremont as a Physical E ducation teacher at Horner Junior High and coached basketball and volleyball. In 2000, he became the Assistant Principal at Irvington High School where he worked with students and staff for six years. He then became the principal Horner Junior High School and successfully led Horner prior to his assignment at American.

Angela Morariu has been appointed Principal of Blacow Elementary School.
Ms. Morariu began her career in education as a migrant instructional aide for the New Haven Unified School District. She then became a substitute teacher and then a Resource Specialist Teacher for New Haven. She became the Assistant Principal of Kitayama Elementary School and then was transferred to Cesar Chavez Middle School. Prior to her assignment as Principal at Blacow, she was the Assistant Principal at Guy Emanuele Jr. Elementary School.

    No idea. I didn’t even know that amounted to a lot of turnover. Hopefully we’ll get a full-time education reporter soon.

    When you say shakeup, were the people previously in those positions terminated or was this simply a giant shuffling?

    I got the “inside” story that it was a golden handshake for early retirement so they can bring in Principals who make less money. I say make the cuts from the Administration FUSD :) No need to have Communications Expert who does not communicate. I wonder how much she makes anyway?
