1) The community gardening nonprofit LEAF is having a harvest event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday morning at 37753 Niles Blvd. They going to expect you to donate some cash or some free time for the produce. Hopefully tomato season in Fremont has been a little sunnier and better than tomato season in Oakland.

2) The free concerts at Niles Town Plaza are continuing into the fall. The following is from Niles town schmoozer Michael McNevin:
The dates are solid – 9/11 (a Sat), and then three Sundays in a row – 9/26, 10/3, and 10/10. The concerts go from 1-4pm, and are FREE to the public.

Bands on tap for the series (already inked, or close to it) are: The Stairwell Sisters, Hugh & The Heffners, WOOSTER, The Tritip Trio/Zydeco Flames, The Houston Jones Band, Gregory Page, The Blushin Roulettes, and several other surprises in the mix, subject to change of course. The Niles Town Plaza Concert Series includes Americana, Folk, Blues, Bluegrass, Jazz, Pop, World, Old Timey, Zydeco, and various other genre’s to keep it fun and interesting.

Note – The 9/11 a Saturday, not a Sunday. It’s Sept 11th, and there will also be a NOON Flag Ceremony around the Flag Pole in the plaza, to honor 9/11, then the music goes 1-4pm as usual.

When is the Taco Truck going to move out of the truck and into a building in town?

  3. Jon Simon Says:

I would expect the truck’s rent and overhead is significantly lower than a storefront’s.

No doubt the truck’s rent and overhead is now lower then it would be renting a space. Niles has supported the truck and now it’s time for the truck to give a little back to Niles. The truck has been racking in the cash! I would expect them to charge a little more if they were to rent a building. I’ll still go there and would be willing to pay a little more. How about you?
