The clarification is, the council obeys the developers, as they are their employers/agents.

I am against the developers funding their employees/agents to occupy the city council to get the lots for one dollar, repeat one dollar ($1) and other concessions/favors.

The developers should not mess with the elections of Fremont, if they want to do business in Fremont.

The only goal for a mall of completely non-local businesses such as Pacific Commons is to the benifit developer and the congolmerate of nationwide chain stores and restaurants "partnering" togethering if not already owned by the same parent company and to put a foot on the neck of "mom and pop" shops that are unique to Fremont or the Bay Area.

and keep it there, pressing harder, until they give up, surrender, go away, die.

If the place becomes a ghostown and "dies a slow and painful death", it won't hurt anyone at the top. It's unlikely those who were in charge of this thing and brought it along won't feel will feel any pain when it's dead.

On that day, you'll be more likely to find champagne smiles and bonuses for a job well executed.

If you think the goal of the mall is to create long-term job opportunities with great pay and benifits, or to bring an array of unique shops, restaurants and variety to a convienent location in Fremont you're mistaken.

There's no goal and there's no mall.
There's a mission and there's a device.

The mission is to eliminate competition.
Pacific Commons, the device by which to do it.

soon nothing will be unique

"obey the developers" Fazulr, are you serious????!!!!!!! One day you are pro developer, then the next day you are anti-developer, and today you are pro developer again. What's next??? Be a anti-developer again. Imagine him running for city council or mayor again and again.

Can we trust you or annoyed by you saying blah blah blah?

RE # 1, Theaters in the Hub, There have been two instances, once starting with one screen and then modifying to two, later torn down and replaced with an 8 screen, which became the Naz, also gone to be replaced with a pet store.

The economics of movie theaters is weird. Operators bid for the right to show a movie based on what size audience they can handle and expect. Big operators can push out the little guys. As a result, there are only a few big operators still in business. And,they go where they want to go, not where you wish they would come.

In defense of the location of the theater complex, it makes sense for it to be in close proximity to I-880. We would complain if there was a large volume of traffic headed east on Mowry and Stevenson to the downtown area to a 16 screen complex. They're already jammed in the early evening. A performing arts center downtown is a better venue and would attract dining establishments better suited to the location. Leave Pac Commons the shopping center and downtown the cultural arts center.
