More contamination at vacant Centerville lot

It’s starting to seem that if there was no bad news in Fremont, there wouldn’t be any news at all. At least there’s a champion chess outfit at Mission San Jose Elementary School.

But at the vacant 6-acre lot in Centerville, there’s a new soil contaminate. It’s too late in the day for me to dig through the staff report, but there’s some sort of vapor maybe from a laundry business, I forget. I’m told that the contaminate wasn’t something the city had to test for when it was doing all that decontamination work at the site.

Now, if the city does have redevelopment funds, it’ll have to use them to remove that contaminate before any sort of housing / retail project is built.
