Niles mugging

UPDATE: A Niles person emailed me last week that Don returned to work with his left eye swollen shut, a splint on his finger and a bandage on his head. Apparently, he grabbed one of the perps and pulled him to the floor, before the former paratrooper got beat down and shot in the face with some sort of BB gun.
Just told that Don at Don’s Antique Auto Parts got mugged inside his store on Niles Boulevard today. Apparently his face got bloodied, but he’ll be alright.

We hope you’ll be back soon, Don. Sorry this happened to you.

When is the city going to close this Fire trap. that store is so full that you can hardly go inside how can he continue to run a buisness out of that fire trap. Oh Yeah the people of niles love the old guy so he can get away with it. No other buisness in fremont would be allowed to stay opened in those conditions.
April 14th, 2011 at 10:04 am
Worble, why don’t you kick the man while he’s down?
April 14th, 2011 at 10:33 am
Robert have you ever seen or done any buisness with Don he has been down for years and that building has been an eyesore and a fire hazard for years. When will the city do something about this health and fire hazard? This is an issue that Fremont has been ignoring for years. It is sad that he got beat but we do not know the full story. What was the real reason?
April 14th, 2011 at 10:52 am
I think Don’s is an interesting place. Why do you believe his shop is more of a fire and health hazard than other mechanic shops?
April 14th, 2011 at 3:36 pm
Marty you also live in Niles and call that a mechenic shop when was the last time Don worked on your car haha. And if it is a legit auto shop they have stricked rules that they have to follow. Fire codes health codes and hazardous waste codes. What other so called mechanic shop in Fremont is in as bad or worst shape than Dons? When was the last time you tried to even get into the front door Marty.
April 14th, 2011 at 5:23 pm
Worble, For your information Don sales old auto parts. He doesn’t operate an auto shop.Don also is quite a character and very kind human being.I personally am thankful that this cowardice punks didn’t harm him more than they did.
Now I don’t know what part of town you live in, but as a Niles resident I hope Don and his business is around along time. It sounds like if you had your way we all be wearing the same color jumpsuits, walking in single file and going to the same generic stripmall
April 14th, 2011 at 5:56 pm
Worby, we’ll just have to disagree. If his shop is a real danger then that is an issue that can be taken up. But when I walk by Don’s I see don’t see junk packed ceiling high, I see one of the most unique places in this city. Whether or not it is a functioning business is up to him.
BTW, I am surprised these p___ies tried to pull this off so close to the Florence. I’d make it a point to not stir it up next to a biker bar.

Worble- Robert said it best. Maybe we can kick worble when he is down on his luck. It is a great store a a geat supply of hard to find items. I know Worble, you want whitewool capets on the floorand and tea and crumpets served all day. That might be right up your alley. Migh even get some sunits.

Worble, Please go back in your commie hole and stay quiet. You have no class and have no idea about America or freedom! Don’s is as American as apple pie. I’m sure you are just mad because you couldn’t afford to buy the part you needed for your old hooptie. Nobody is allowed inside his shop so there is no public danger. Warped-ble grow up!
April 15th, 2011 at 7:50 am
Hey Worble! what the hell do you mean by “the full story” and “the real reason”? Are you implying that this wasn’t a random stickup? Are you suggesting that the robbery was somehow related to your claim that building that Don’s is a “firetrap”?

Worble shame on you. You know obviously know nothing about Niles and it’s community. The relevant issue here is a crime against person, not your perception of a code violation.
April 18th, 2011 at 10:53 am
Guess what you losers I live right here in Niles.
Why do all of you think that it is right for this buisness owner not to follow the laws like the rest of us buisness owners in Fremont. It’s because you have to belong to the good ol boys club of the Niles
And for you info I have known Don for far longer than most of you.
I have lived in Niles for over fifty years and I have seen alot of buisness come and go over the years I just want Don to be compliant like the rest of the companies in Fremont.
April 18th, 2011 at 12:40 pm
So Worble, Are you saying that you are a buisness owner here in fremont. If so where is it I would like to stop by.
April 18th, 2011 at 2:17 pm
Owen If you have lived in Fremont for any amount of time you and your family have already visited several times. And you can get into the front door to unlike Dons
Somebody answer the question If Don Is running a legit buisness why doesn’t he have to be compliant with Fire and hazardous waste code’s?
April 18th, 2011 at 5:54 pm
Worble-
Then it is a real shame then that you live in the community and think this attack on an individual is your opportunity to vent about any code violations you feel that are present at his shop.
Living here for 5 days or 50 years shouldn’t matter if you care about the health and safety of a person.
I am sorry if working with the City of Fremont on any issues that you have had to conform to may have caused a financial burden on your business, but that can’t excuse your lack common decency in this time of tragedy.
Shame on you.
April 19th, 2011 at 3:42 pm
Robert you clown. Japan is a good example of a tragedy Don getting bitch slapped is a shame but it is not a tragedy.
These types of crimes happen every day in Fremont. Robert you wrote( Living here for 5 days or 50 years shouldn’t matter if you care about the health and safety of a person).
What about the health and safety of all the people that live next to or near this auto parts store called Dons?
Robert can you answer the Question Why do you think don should not have to follow fire and health codes like any other buisness in Fremont? Anybody?
April 19th, 2011 at 6:11 pm
Warble, Your lack of compassion for a fellow human being leaves me with a feeling of disgust. The beating that Don received by these punks was much more than a bitch slap.I will no longer waste any more of my time on you.Your lost.
April 19th, 2011 at 6:55 pm
Does anybody know this worble character ?
Sounds like jealous competition!
What kind of health hazard does stainless steel and cast iron create?
As for the eyesore factor, his store looks like the rest of niles!
Ive done alot of business with don so i dont get the ,”hes been down for years “comment.
Worble! Get a life you crabby old grump!
Your an earsore on the rest of us who genuinely care for people who contribute to the class and history of downtown Niles.
April 19th, 2011 at 8:37 pm
Worby, I’m totally confused by your animosity. There has got to be something personal going on here. I’m racking my brain trying to figure out what kind of conflict would initiate this.
Are you a competitor? I doubt that, because if Don is making a profit it’s highly niche.
Do you own a Niles business? I also doubt that as you’ve been very vocal in opposing Niles redevelopment.
I’m guessing that your business (in your words one a Fremont family would have likely visited) has been cited for a major fire violation. And you can’t bear to see Don’s — a travesty in your own head — operate without the heavy hand and wrath that dropped on your money maker.
I’m guessing a sh*t hole like Shakers Pizza, but I’m open. I can assure you though that if cited businesses are public, I will figure this out.
April 20th, 2011 at 7:52 am
FISH ON!!! Wow I thought I would be able to catch a couple of Niles bleeders but masterbaiter Marty? Ha HA LMAO.
April 20th, 2011 at 9:19 am
I don’t think you’re laughing at all, Worby.
