Budget time

Fremont has released its budget for the upcoming fiscal year. And I haven’t really given it a good read. But it doesn’t seem too bad. At least  it doesn’t seem as bad as San Jose, where Mayor Chuck Reed wants to renege on pension guarantees the city negotiated with its employees.

Fremont will unveil its budget to the City Council tonight, and I’ll make time to be there.

Chuck Reed wants to renege on pension guarantees the city negotiated with its employees.

Barely factual. As the article states, “accrued benefits would not be affected”. That is the only guarantee city employees have. There’s no guarantee they’ll have a job going forward, let alone a pension.

I often listen to Reed’s “town hall” meetings on KLIV. He’s a tough cogent straight shooter, and his work will influence the nation. San Jose is lucky to have such a leader.
