William Hopkins Junior High is one of two Fremont schools to capture the prestigious National Blue Ribbon Schools Award, said James Morris, Fremont’s superintendent of schools.

The U.S. Department of Education awarded the honor to Hopkins and J. Haley Durham Elementary School. The awards — given to schools whose students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are made in academic achievement – are expected to be formally announced on Monday.

Only 24 schools were given the award statewide, and Fremont Unified  has two of them, school board member Lily Mei said. “We are so proud,” she said.

Great job, Hopkins!, but Lily Mei should not be reelected. She went too far when she censored the assigned book list of an college prep English class at WHS. Censorship has no place in our schools, where does Mei think she is? Toto! We are not in Kansas anymore!

West, at least tell us why you support Mei? She has displayed serious mission creep by hijacking teachers learning plans. No more censorship. And I have 3 kids in FUSD. Do you?

Lily Mei has done a excellent job of guiding us through a very serious financial disaster!!!!!!
