Another Fremont vigil has been scheduled in honor of the 23-year-old physiotherapy student who was brutally gang raped and beaten by six males in New Delhi, India three weeks ago.
The public candlelight vigil will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Lake Elizabeth in Central Park, 40000 Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont. It is being co-sponsored by Ajay Jain Bhutoria (co-owner of Radio Zindagi in Fremont) and other community members.
The heinous crime has unleashed a global outpour of anger and outrage, and Indians are calling for changes to the nation’s laws and cultural attitudes. Closer to home, the Saturday vigil will be at least the third Bay Area one held in honor of the victims in about a week.
