Story by Natalie Alund:

A bank robbery suspect who barricaded himself inside the EZ 8 Motel on Cedar Boulevard earlier Monday was arrested after police bombed the room with tear gas, police said.

The suspect surrendered to police after being forced from room 207 about 8:30 p.m., said Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

The suspect was one of two men accused of robbing the Bank of the West on the 39500 block of Paseo Padre Parkway in Fremont about 1:40 p.m. Monday. He had been holed up in the room since mid afternoon.

The second suspect was apprehended by police without incident about 3:40 p.m.

Bosques said both men exited the motel room unarmed and were immediately arrested. Their names were not released.
