Woman suspected of Fremont porch package thefts arrested in Oakland

There’s been a lot of crime news coming out of Fremont lately. Here’s the latest from crime reporter Natalie Alund:

A woman suspected of stealing packages and items for the needy from Fremont porches, captured on video surveillance that went viral last year, was arrested Wednesday in Oakland, police said.

Danielle Shauntey Gonsalves, 32, of Oakland, was arrested Wednesday afternoon in the 9700 block of MacArthur Boulevard in connection with the stolen packages from last year, said Fremont police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques.

“At the time of her arrest she was in possession of stolen mail, credit cards and identification that belonged to other victims,” Bosques said Wednesday.

Fremont police detectives spotted her about noon in Oakland, and Gonsalves was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor petty theft, felony identity theft and felony probation violation.
