Swat action in Union City NOT related to ‘local’ homicide

If you happened to hear about the raid on a Union City home this morning you’re probably wondering what it’s all about. Well, Union City police, the ones who busted into the home on Galaxy Way about 6 a.m., told me that it was related to a homicide case in Hayward and then referred me to a different agency for more information.  We’ve got a reporter at The Daily Review working on the details, but it appears that at least a half-dozen suspected gang members were arrested related to a killing in Hayward last month. Check The Review for information later. We should have the full story in our paper tomorrow.

Two hurt in overnight gang shooting

(UPDATE 11:02 A.M.) Link for story

Did you hear gunshots overnight? Two people suffered very minor injuries early this morning near Thornton Avenue and Post Street in what police are calling a gang-related incident. It’s unclear what prompted the thing, but cops seem to think it’s got some gang overtones. The story will be posted on our site soon enough. I’ll link to it when it appears.

Small update on stabbings at Niles wedding reception

Here’s a small nugget for you loyal TCB readers.

Looks like the weekend stabbing at the Niles Banquet Hall was NOT gang related as originally thought. This is not to say that someone in the attack was not involved in gangs, but the motive for the stabbing did not appear to be gang-related, cops say. I’ll have more on this incident in tomorrow’s edition of the The Argus. Just an FYI still no arrests.
