Take a good look at the guy shown here. Police said today they are looking for him in connection with the beating and robbery of a 75-year-old woman earlier this week. The story was just posted (link) on our site. Do you know who this guy is? Contact the Fremont Police Department, 510-790-6900.
For about 15 minutes, The Argus’ Web site had me listed as a suspected criminal. I wrote a story this morning about an armed robbery at the Quick Stopon Farwell Drive, and because of a coding error my byline (the part that says “By Ben Aguirre Jr.”) was linked to the headline and appeared on our Web site in the same line of text. Click the image here to see the screen shot. I found it amusing.
Well, looks like Fremont cops got their guy. Police arrested a 26-year-old man near Mission San Jose Tuesday night in connection with a dozen robberies at banks and check cashing businesses in the Bay Area, eight of which happened in Fremont. These are the cases in which the robber wore an Atlanta Braves baseball cap in recent weeks. See story here.

Police this morning are looking for a bank robber who knocked off two banks in the last 24 hours while wearing this kind of cap. Look for the short story to hit the Web soon. Cops say the robber is an Asian man in his mid to late 20s who was wearing an Atlanta Braves cap and driving a black Honda Accord. Anyone with information may call police at 510-790-6900.
