“American Idol” Auditions Return To Bay Area

After shunning the Bay Area for a couple of years, Simon Cowell and the gang are returning this summer for another round of “American Idol” auditions.
Fox announced this morning an eight-city audition tour that kicks off at the Cow Palace in Daly City on July 17.
The tryouts (and, please, William Hung stay away) are open to wannabe singers 16-28 years old as of July 15, 2008. Auditioners are asked to first show up at the Cow Palace on July 15, when wristbands will be distributed from 7 to 8 a.m. (Auditioners will not be permitted to camp out). Once you have a wristband, you’ll be asked to return on the 17th.
Here are the dates and sites for the other “American Idol” audition sessions this summer:
– July 21: Louisville, KY (Freedom Hall)
– July 25: Phoenix, AZ (Jobing.com Arena)
– July 29: Salt Lake City, UT (EnergySolutions Arena)
– August 2: San Juan, Puerto Rico (Coliseo de Puerto Rico)
– August 8: Kansas City, MO (Sprint Center)
– August 13: Jacksonville, FL (Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena)
– August 19: East Rutherford, NJ (IZOD Center at the Meadowlands)

hello,
my name is donnie smith and i live on the eastern shore of maryland.i just turned 45 and have been singing and playing instruments since 5 years old and have perfect controlled pitch on all songs but was bothered to find out that tryouts are only for ages 16-28.are you aware of any other singing contest i could enter that dont have age limits?thank you,donnie.

Hello american idolers,
If you are looking for a place to stay that is very close to the Cow Palace, I am offering a one bedroom,shower and kitchen unit for $150.00 a night. The Cow Palace is apprx three blocks from where I live in a safe neighborhood. It is about a 15 minute walk. If you rent a car, you would have driveway access and wouldn’t have to worry about street parking. It is an in-law unit within a two story home. If interested, See Craigslist temp rentals/sublet. I’m currently attending summer school and need to be in class at 8:30. Is it okay to come for the wristband after 12 noon?
