KRON-TV (Channel 4) debuted the Bay Area’s first and only 8 p.m. newscast this week, filling a viewer “void,” according to the station.

In addition, KRON has expanded its 4 p.m. newscast from 30 minutes to an hour, increasing Channel 4’s total hours of local news to 9-and-a-half hours.

The addition of an 8 p.m. newscast (anchored by Pam Moore and Chris Murphy) means that “Dr. Phil” now moves to the 5 p.m. time slot. Here’s a look at KRON’s new evening schedule:

4 p.m. — Local news
5 p.m. — “Dr. Phil”
6 p.m. — Local news
7 p.m. — “The Insider”
7:30 — “Entertainment Tonight”
8 p.m. — Local news
