“Moonlight” Fans Refuse To Give Up

You’ve gotta love those “Moonlight” fans. They refuse to take “you’re canceled” for an answer.

After the vampire drama was axed in May by CBS, the loyalists bore their fangs and rallied together in  hopes of bringing the show back from the dead, a la “Jericho” last summer. They’ve put out ads. They’ve had blood drives. Now they’re having a series of picnics, including one right here in the East Bay.

The event is set for Saturday at the Berkeley Marina in Caesar Chavez Park and it will run from noon to 3 p.m. Lynne T., one of the organizers, says everyone is welcome to attend and admission is free. They’re also promising free food and entertainment.

In addition to the event in Berkeley, there are picnic rallies scheduled this weekend in New York’s Central Park, downtown Orlando, Portland, Dallas, Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.

The picnics are all part of a grssroots campaign targeting the Sci-Fi Network to pick up the show and DirecTV to underwrite production costs. For more info on the campaign, click here.

“Moonlight” Fans To CBS: Suck It!

MOONLIGHT
Will the vampire live to love again?

Another season, another fan revolt.

A year after CBS incensed “Jericho” fans for axing their favorite drama, the network has riled devotees of the vampire drama “Moonlight” by canceling the show.

And so, I’ve been pelted with many letters such as this one:

If you thought the fall-out from the cancellation of Jericho was bad, wait until you see the fall-out from Moonlight!  Vampires are all the rage right now, what with the Twilight series being made into a movie and the books selling so well.  This is a delightful freshman series that was only beginning to reach its potential!  To pull the plug on such a delightful and engaging show is just plain wrong!  You need to give Moonlight a chance and bring it back for another season.  We are done with 90210.  That is so 80’s and the kids of today do not want it.  They want vampires and romance and drama.  If you want ratings, you need Moonlight.
