I know. I know. I’ve been totally remiss in not talking about the most-talked about piece of television in the past few days: Brad Womack’s brutal behavior in the finale of “The Bachelor.”
What can I say? I totally blew it. After following “The Bachelor” for much of the season — mainly to see how Walnut Creek’s Sheena Stewart fared — I nodded off on Monday before the finale aired and didn’t get around to seeing it until this morning online.
And so I’ve probably got nothing new to add to the rip jobs being done on Womack, who has become known as Jethro around these parts. I will say, however, that what he did shouldn’t have been all that big of a surprise. This is a man who obviously has had commitment issues all his life — a man who hasn’t had a really serious relationship (as far as we know). There were some prior hints, too, in the way he treated Sheena — going from a romantic evening in which he dazzled her with expensive diamonds, to dumping her during the Final 4 round.

She got tantalizingly close, but Walnut Creek’s Sheena Stewart won’t be walking away with a rock on her finger from “The Bachelor.”
Having made it to the final four in ABC’s reality smooch-fest, Sheena brought Brad home to Walnut Creek to meet the folks, Greg and Beverly, during tonight’s episode. And after a day of boating on the Delta and an evening dip in the hot tub, things appeared to be going fairly well.
But by the end of the episode, Brad handed out roses to DeAnna, Jenni, and Bettina, leaving Sheena to wonder what went wrong.
“My heart feels like it got ripped in half — like it got stepped on,” she said during a tearful limo ride home.

Sheena (far right) has her rose. So do Jenni, DeAnna and Bettina (ABC).
“The Bachelor” is coming to Walnut Creek.
On last night’s episode of the dating reality show, local gal Sheena Stewart advanced to the final four, meaning she’ll be among the contestants bringing Bachelor Brad to her hometown to meet the family.
Preview clips showed Brad enjoying some time on the Delta (Sheena’s dad owns a large boat) and locked in a serious conversation with Sheena’s lovely mom. The actual visit was filmed in early September.
Sheena, a Northgate High School grad, locked up a spot in the hometown-date round with an “over-the-top” night of one-on-one romance. After being whisked away in a limo, she was given the choice of six gowns to wear (she selected a beautiful red one). And then came some fabulous $15,000 diamond earrings, a dance under the stars (accompanied by an orchestra) and a soulful kiss. The only blemish on the night? Sheena took a brief tumble on the stairs, but quickly recovered.
“It was a complete fairytale in every way shape and form,” she said of the date.
Not so fortunate was Hillary, one of two women let go by Brad. Barely out the door, Hillary dissolved into an epic breakdown that ABC promoted with relentless — and tasteless — glee. Shameful stuff, really.
If my memory serves, Sheena is the fourth Walnut Creek woman to appear on “The Bachelor,” but the first to make it this far. Does she have a shot at a ring? Judging from Brad’s assessment, she’s a definite maybe.
“This girl is solid,” he told the cameras. “… She would make an amazing wife for any guy.”
