CBS Fall: Shark and The Unit are MIA

CBS has not yet announced whether “The Unit” will return or not. As soon as that happens, you can read about it on my blog. I no longer post to Unscripted.
CBS announced today it will renew 11 series for the 2008-2009, but “The Unit” and “Shark” don’t seem to appear on this list.
The shows you will see in the fall are: “Cold Case,” “Criminal Minds,” “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “CSI: Miami,” “CSI: NY,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “NCIS,” “Numb3rs,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Without a Trace” and “The Big Bang Theory.”
Those series join previously announced ‘”Survivor” and “The Amazing Race”.

CBS hasn’t yet made a decision on several shows, including “How I Met Your Mother,” “The New Adventures of Old Christine” and “Moonlight.”

I also can’t believe that you would not renew “Moonlight” It just won the “People’s Choice Award” for best bew drama. Come on Guys I am soooooo tired of reality shows. Come on the Amazing Race & Survior? How many times to we need to see people on an Island casting people off & running a race. You get interesting shows then cancel them. “KEEP MOONLIGHT ALIVE”

The Unit is the only show that the men and women that are currently serving our country overseas can associate with. The realisim, and acting are first rate, and the men and women of the Armed Services appreciate that.
Please, for them do not discontinue The Unit.

Please bring back the Unit. That show has helped me transition back to civilian life since returning home. When I returned, I was injured and was planted in front of a TV until I healed. The Unit helped me not think about my own situation so much.

I am baffled how can Ghost Whisperer stay but the Unit is cancelled?!?!?!
The Unit is one of the best shows on television. In a time when every other show is an absurd drawn out game show or an attempt at reality…the Unit is a fantastic alternative!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bring back the Unit.
And frankly as far as I’m concerned do away w/ all the others except Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI and NCIS.

In this war time and the new confusing and controversial election time, we need the UNIT to remember that the real guys and girls doing the fighting are in real danger. Left my feedback for CBS. Prior to finding “The Unit” this year, I hadn’t watched CBS or any of the big 3/4 networks, for years. Hopefully they’ll continue The Unit & give me a reason to keep on being a viewer. Agreed, I change the channel every time I see a CSI anything, Law & Order (or various copies), the Shield, etc. Those shows have been made. The Unit reminds us we’re at war even when we’re not at war. Good people risk everything on our behalf. The Unit honors their courage and sacrifice.

I also agree that if CBS pulls the plug on The Unit that we boycott them. I am so sick and tired of the reality shows along with all of the CSI spinoffs. The comment made by DW sums it up, the liberal media and entertainment industry want to do their best to not show any support of our troops.
If they brought Jericho back, I see no reason why they cannot bring The Unit back if fans show their support. Make sure to send CBS your feedback.

Several years ago I stopped watching TV for this very reason. Corp boardroom decisions that end a show b4 they finish telling their story. I now ONLY download shows that have completed story lines. I don’t watch TV anymore. I learned not to invest time in a show that won’t finish its story when Firefly was killed.
now they are all OMG I will never find out blah blah blah. But me I say eh, I hear Jericho will wrap up, when it does I will download it and watch it. Added bonus would be no incredibly stupid commercials. Though I would put up with them if I could trust CBS fox whoever to actually finish something they start…..
You can boycott them if you want. I say return the favor, they dump you, you dump them. Turn the TV off and leave it off.
Now I know, don’t waste time on The Unit. I had so many friends tell me how great it was, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop

I was shocked to hear that The Unit will not be finishing the third season….and I was in pure bewilderment when I later head that CBS wouldn’t be picking it up for a fourth. This is show is the most underrated show on television, a new time or different night would prove this. Canceling this show would be both a shame and a mistake!

The Unit was “canned” for one reason, it was pro Military. The anti-war big wigs at CBS didn’t like the idea SPECOPs Units went around the world taking care of bad guys and how real Americans love watching bad guys get killed.

Shame on CBS!! After a horrible TV season for everyone, and networks having to fill in with reality shows, do they powers that be think that we haven’t had enough of it that they have to cancel a popular show? CBS has a horrible line up and I would think they would take any and all that they have that works somewhat and run with it. The Unit is a great show and one that my husband and I watch together. I will be goin on to CBS.com and voicing my oppion there too. YOu do the same.

Please do not cancell the show “The Unit”. It is acted superbly and gives a neccessary sense of realism to a war genre that has not been seen in a long time. It is not campy, or over the top. Every character from the main to the supporting roles are done extremely well. This will be a major loss for CBS but will be a horrible blow for those who do not understand the turmoil of a military life and shoot their mouths off ignorantly over the government and the military and their policies. Bring it back!

I have served in the military for a number of years and this is the only show that I have seen that accurately shows this part of the Army. CBS has great writing and expert advisers for the Unit. It shows in the weapons, equipment and the smallest details. So many other TV shows don’t even come close on the Unit’s authenticity. I know so many other people that feel the same way about The Unit.

The Unit was one of the few TV shows my husband and I looked forward watching on Tuesday nights. It’s one of the best, most well written and well acted shows on TV.
Personally I am so sick and tired of all the forensics type shows and all of the stupid “survivor” shows. At least The Unit shares with it’s audience the exciting, touching, and devoted lives of a Special Unit soldier, their wives, and their families. Makes me proud to be an American!

There’s a lot of military men out here that loved watching the unit..my husband being a 27 year vet. could hardly wait for the show to come on and i being a mil. wife enjoyed it too. why do we have twenty law shows ( getting boring) with all the stuff going on in the world today can’t we have this to look forward to or do we need to send you peanuts too?

I am really upset that Shark isn’t on this season. James Wood is a great actor and the show was something I looked forward to every week. There are so many trashy reality shows that stay on the air but Shark is taken off! I just don’t understand it. Please renew this show .

CBS has captured my viewing loyalty over the past several years owing to the quality of their programming. My favorite show has been ‘The Unit’ from episode number one and increasing with each season. Drop this show and my viewing loyalty takes a major drop along with it. Viewer ratings alone for the first three seasons ought to be reason enough to continue production of the series. The ’suits’ in New York earning the big money should be able to see a fan base and revenue producer in this series. Lose the show and I take my money elsewhere.

‘Unit’ is the only reason I look forward to every Tuesday night after a long day of work. And it is not precise to think ‘Unit’ would make CBS as pro-war station. Any nuthead at the station has that idea deserves to get fired. With large fan-base, it’s a very bad decision from CBS to can the ‘Unit’.
If there’re a shows that needs to be canned, please shut off those reality shows and the Miami CSI. The head CSI agent always leaning his head on a side make me think he’s too weak to stand, left alone acting.

What…The Unit is cancelled…CBS is has lost all my respect as a viewer…The Unit was far the best show out there…the actors are great..the stories are great. FOX should pick up The Unit and run it in front or behind 24. David Mamet knows he has a good show and the nitwits at CBS get what they deserve, a network full of brainless candy that caters to Jerry Springer and Britany Spears fans. Good luck with that.
I always thought this show would make a better full-length movie anyway. It would blow away crap like Stop Loss and other Hollywood duds. I’m ready to buy a ticket now.

The Unit must return to CBS. It is the main stay of the CBS regular season and brings in allot of military viewers. Along with NCIS and the Unit are the two best military weekly shows on the air. Bring back JAG too!

My son in Nashville and I always call each other and discuss both the Unit and Shark. We both look forward to watching it each week. I sure hope some other network is smart enough to pick them up.Moonlight was also great! What I don’t get is why you kept such other junk and stupid reality shows on when you have quality shows people look forward to watching. TV is really beginning to suck. The reality crap is truly boring. Big Brother is obscene. I quit watching this show last year after watching it since its inception. It’s the last thing I’d watch these days.The most sickeningly evil, disgusting, and vicious people always end up winning. I wrote to CBS and they never answered me, how surprising! I am also hoping they bring back the Unit. It was real, about one of the only “real” shows on the tube.

Right now the American soldier is as popular as he as ever been. Why would CBS and their stockholders not want to take advantage of this? American’s like winners that make them proud!!!! Besides a series should not be cancelled in the middle of the season-that’s just wrong unless of course the show stinks which it doesn’t. It was bad enough Hector had to die but to kill the whole show is inexcusable.

I am so hoping that they bring The Unit back. It is an awesome show. My family and I spend time together watching this show. It is one of the few that we reaaly REALLY enjoy watching. It is the best military show. It really shows support for our troops. And I am all for that. So please bring back The Unit. I know I will be more likely to watch CBS if they do.

The Unit was one of the best shows on tv. My whole family gathered around the tv on tuesday nights just to watch. My son is in the Navy, but he would still watch the unit. This show and NCIS are the best shows going today. You just have to bring this show back on the air. Please bring it back. Take moonlighting off. This was family night for us.

I am not sure how CBS thinks. First it was Jericho and an attempt to get rid of it (with a cliffhanger no less), now the Unit (One of the very few reasons I watch CBS). You know, some of these programs are the only real reasons to watch CBS. The morning news, to me is dry. During the day, it’s “blah”, but a small few of the shows cathc my attention. You have gems like the Unit, Jericho, and Criminal Minds. I wonder what “Criminal Minds” keep thinking that cancelling excellent shows will make CBS better? Well if you keep this up, I will just totally defect to NBC!

All that seems to be on the mind of CBS execs is the MIND NUMBING reality shows that SUCK - you have noting better to offer the American people than WATCHING OTHERS LIVE THEIR LIVES ?!!? I really miss watching The Unit. I sent the DVD’s to my husband overseas and he said it was a real morale booster for the guys over there too. Now that Lifetime learned the error of their ways and brought back Army Wives, I am hoping CBS will follow suit and renew The Unit! I mean, come on, The Unit had ratings that made them tied for the #14 top pick in the 05-06 season - 15.5 million fans!

A blogger in Ohio has said that The Unit is a good bet to continue but not certain. I’ve also liked Shark. This writer’s strike has hurt a lot of shows - I for one don’t care about 24 any more after so long a hiatus.
I think The Unit was far better in the 1st season with realistic scenarios rather than dealing with wives working in strip clubs, etc…But I hope it will return.

I support our troops, of which are my Brother, my Uncle and 2 cousins. I send care packages every week. What do you do to support the troops besides belittle those who don’t agree with your views (is that really supporting them)? Even though Fox News tells you that it is impossible to do so, it is possible to support the troops without supporting the reasons they are there.

I hope they don’t cancel The Unit, how many CSI dramas do we need to give the criminals the tricks in identifying them. I think I saw three versions listed, CRAZY to keep them all! Keep The Unit and Jericho (also dumped) because those are the two shows I watched on CBS.

Please renew The Unit. I watch hardly any TV but I never miss a new episode of The Unit. Plus I have season 1 and 2 on DVD. I am even going to watch the reuns over the next three weeks. I have a large group of friends that I watch The Unit with and we will all be very upset with CBS if it gets cancelled. Some of my friends even said they would stop watching all the CSI’s if The Unit gets cancelled.

I will boycott CBS if they do not return The Unit to their line-up. It is far and away the best show that has been on TV for years. I agree with the comment that CBS, and I will add, many in our country today, do not like The Unit because it shows our military in a favorable light and that is just not popular or politically correct anymore. How sad that the stupids as CBS will bow in this way - but, then, why should we be surprised by anything they do anymore? The media is liberal - and acts that way, always. Better to have fake reality shows and gore than a show that depicts heroism.

The Unit is one of the very few TV series I have ever bought on DVD, since it was such a unique and well made show. CBS should be ashamed of itself for trying to sweep this under the rug.
Does anyone know what the ratings for The Unit were? How did it compare to other shows? Did it do poorly enough to justify axing it?

Why do TPTB always seem to cancel the best shows? I sincerely hope that CBS is smart enough to keep the shows that it currently has as well as bring back The Unit. Tuesday night is just not the same without it. I miss watching it after NCIS…

My husband and I have been waiting for what seems like forever for The Unit to be back on the air. We were devestated when we heard it might not return! That is the only show we actually PLANNED to watch. We are so sick of reality shows. They are getting ridiculous. Honestly. The Unit is real, has just enough drama, and shows what is actually happening in the armed forces, that most people don’t think about or see! We NEED The Unit!!!!

The Unit and NCIS is a HOT COMBINATION CBS !!! Do not separate them or cancel the Unit — it brings up connotations of how hot Miami Vice seemed when it first came out — the action is always pressed, and there’s just something special and different about the show that makes you eagerly anticipate the next episode. This is the type of show CBS should be eager to keep — I wouldn’t be against it going to a better timeslot — I think the viewership would probably increase.
It also gets that demographic that you’re leaving behind with all the reality crap — the baby boomers and older Gen X’ers like us

Just about the only show on TV that has me put down my books that I read is the Unit. The show is deals with real life situations and some great charactors that have been created. This show also instills some hope for the Military families that are subject to the harsh realities of war.
This show should be a number one show.
Thank you for producing it and I hope you will keep it alive.

I hope CBS keeps the UNIT on. Even if they dont renew it for another season, they need to at least finish the current season. The fact that they have two excellent military shows on in one night is an excellent idea for those people that want to know what our guys in Araq and Afganistan are really going through right now. My husband and I have been patiently awaiting the return THE UNIT. The lack of news regarding its status is becoming concerning. We have not missed one single episode since the premier. This is possibly the best show ever! It is suspenseful, entertaining, and dramatic. CBS would be making a horrible mistake letting this one go.

It seems like the powers that be do what they want. I have enjoyed the Unit and Moonlight since they began. I have NEVER watched a reality show and am tired of the sitcoms and their poor quality of writing. The Unit was excellent! CBS had better come up with something good to fill the time slot or I won’t be watching! Seems like USA Network is trying to pick up some slack - maybe they will pick up the Unit???????

I’ve been waiting to see new episodes of The Unit, thinking it would be on after Big Brother or Survivor Micronesia were finished. Now it seems that you may not bring it back. I just heard that you may not bring back The Unit. It’s a much better show than many that are being renewed. It gives we non-military people a glimpse of what our present day soldiers may be experiencing, and I think we need to see that. That makes it a very pertinent show that has redeeming social value. Please don’t cancel The Unit, in favor of some drivel that attempts to pass as entertainment.

“Shark” is the best thing on TV! Better than “Grey’s Anatomy,” better than “Boston Legal,” better than all the c@#p that’s on now and will be picked back up for Fall! James Woods is a terrific actor! The supporting cast is good! Snappy dialogue!! Intersting plotlines! However, I understand that the series was a lot better the first season, i.e., better dialogue (do they still have the same writers after the writers’ strike)? JAMES WOODS IS A NATIONAL TREASURE AND NOW YOU’RE TAKING HIM AWAY FROM US!! SHAME ON YOU, CBS! Surely the ratings were better than a lot of the c#$p you picked back up for Fall! SAVE SHARK!!

“The Unit” was a must see at our house. It brought home an opportunity to appreciate what our military and their families deal with on a daily basis. The characters are three-dimensional, the scripts are spot-on, and the acting is stellar.
TV viewing should not be relegated to myopic political pundit wannabees, opinionators, [the “hard-fact” present], glamourous dance scenarios, sit-com reruns, and shoddy comedies. “The Unit” provides another world view that merits our attention. I lament its absence.

I really think the “yes-men” at CBS should have there brains examined if they choose to cancel a show as great as The Unit. They already lost favor from me when the black-balled Jericho. Then again they may need to make room for the new CSI spinoff, “CSI:Kansas Who Killed The Jayhawk”.
