Spore Creature Creator Is On My Computer And I’m Taking Requests
By Danny Willis

You read that right. The Spore Creature Creator is on my computer. After all these long years of waiting I am interacting with part of Spore!
As you can tell from the above picture of Dave, my first creature, I’m trying to push it to see how weird it can go. The answer: Pretty weird.
While usually I would use this opportunity to gloat about my good fortune (well, more than I have already) I’m feeling joyous and benevolent so, since you won’t get a chance to try until June 17, I’m taking requests. Post a comment with the bizarre and surreal thing you want to see and I’ll do my best to create it in the Creature Creator. Then I’ll post pictures and videos of the results in the next day or two, assuming I don’t get fired for not showing up to work because I stayed up for 38 consecutive hours playing with the Creature Creator.
It’s actually a very real possibility. Maxis has that effect on me. Seriously, it’s 1 a.m. right now.
Anyway, make your requests! Challenge me! This should be fun. And I’ll even send it to you on the 17th when you get your own copy. But don’t request human, that doesn’t seem possible.
Part 1, with Brian’s and Marc’s requests.
Part 2, Ross Hester’s Andalite.
Part 3, Richard’s Dalek.
Part 4, Richard’s Hutt and Mark Taiwan antlion.

I want to Kwyjibo. (check the Simpsons)

Make a giant spere with just one leg, one eye and one arm. And make it green with yellow spots!
June 13th, 2008 at 10:16 am
I actually tore myself away from it long enough to sleep and come to work so I’ll take a crack at two of these three this evening. The third is human. Some people just don’t read instructions.
The one-leg thing is a good idea. I wonder if they can balance on one leg. Man, I wish I was still playing with it…

Make a Human mixed with a Crocodile mixed with a T-rex… LOL
June 13th, 2008 at 12:24 pm
I want an Andalite.
Body of a small horse or deer with blue fur. Humanoid upper body like a centaur. Weak arms ending in seven fingered hands, humanoid head with no mouth or nose. Three vertical slits where the nose and mouth should be. Large almond shaped eyes, and then two extra eyes on top of moveable stalks on top of the head. Ears like a vulcan. Long tail extending out from the base of the spine ending in a giant curved blade.
Have fun.

Sounds like you have a lot of work after work Danny. I’m sure making Spore creatures and posting videos of them is such hard work haha
June 13th, 2008 at 1:39 pm
I’m trying to focus on work and all I can do is think of how to make these things. I think the hardest part is no mouth on the Andalite, the rest seems possible…ish…
Keep them coming, these ideas are awesome. The end of the day can’t come soon enough.

A sandworm from Dune.
Jaba the hutt.

how about an antlion?

I want a thing with hands as its feet that actually walks on its hands, with the head where the crotch should be, and then the handfeet thing up at the top. The toplegs should have eyeballs at the kneelbows, and it should have a fifth limb coming out of its torso that ends in a foot.
June 14th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I’ve drawn a map, and I just have one question: The face on the crotchhead, is it upside-down or a normal head with a neck in the top coming out of its crotch?
June 14th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Definitely an upside down head. Preferably with a mohawk.
June 14th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
I’ll do one better and give it one of those sailfish dorsal fins on its crotchhead. Give me about two and a half hours.

Can you make Alien –> From Alien Movie 1,2,3
I’ve tried to make it.. But it ended up being a dragon… lol.. wha’ am i doin ‘rong…? lol…
June 18th, 2008 at 7:36 am
I’ll give it a shot tonight but I’m not making any guarantees, its head may turn out to be all floppy and I don’t know if there are any mouths that would look right.
Try making the spine run all the way through the head, and make the vertebrae just below the head really small to make a neck. That’s the only way I can think of to do it. But like I said, then its head would wobble around.

It pains me to admit it, but I can’t make an Alien. The best I can do is a cutesy cartoon Alien with a floppy head. Which is hilarious but not, you know, the request.
The toplegs with the eyeballs at the kneelbows didn’t stump me but you did. Congratulations to you, Randi Cybernetics, you have bested me.

Hehe… too bad you can’t make it…
Ok… since you like chalenges…
How about making creature with floating parts… that didn’t attach to its body…
I’ve manage to create one
see it here :

Whoa, that’s hardcore. It looks like you pulled it out of the background of a Hieronymus Bosch painting. I almost want one as a pet.
I’ll give it a shot after work Monday but the failed Alien episode has me questioning my Creature Creator skills. If I can’t figure it out you totally have to teach me, I want a world full of neo-surrealist nightmare fuel in September.
June 24th, 2008 at 8:51 am
Ok, I’m stumped. Everything I do also deletes the part I’m trying to make float. What’s the trick?
June 25th, 2008 at 2:01 am
Hehe…
Watch this tutorials
http://youtube.com/watch?v=2rlDNqO6s-0
However, it’s only cover a basic tutorials to make floating parts…
To make something complicated with multi-floating part in different angle (like my Heautrix Floatwings), that’s another story… that’s the real challenge… creativity is the limit…
…hehe… just go & pull your creativity & “Spore Skills” to the MAX…
I’m looking forward for your creations…
I’m working on another complicated creatures… I’ll let you know when it’s done…
see ya

how bout a walking earth with a mouth, ears, at least 1 arm and 1 leg and eyes (basically able to survive a while in the wild.
July 24th, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Andalite dilemma solved: The no mouth thing is easy to do here; think about the times when any body part ends up “disappearing” into the part they’re connected to.
In other words, adjust the angles of the parts (rotation of anything in the game is a full 360 degrees)
