Trade exception swirling ’round the drain

It’s not dead yet, but as of 4 p.m., the Warriors have not made a move that utilizes their expiring-in-8-hours trade exception. And as a Warriors official pointed out, both executive vice president Chris Mullin and his No. 2, salary-cap guru Pete D’Alessandro, were in attendance at the team’s press conference, which most assuredly would not be the case if the team was in the throes of finalizing a deal.

The Warriors blew it at the trade deadline, they could have gotten a player with an expiring contract from a team already in the tax(like Miami-Ricky Davis). We were down to a 6.5 man rotation and missed the playoffs by 2 games, basically that Nuggets game. Any help at all and we make the playoffs.
On the bright side atleast we got a top 8 player in this draft at the 14th spot so missing the playoffs wasn’t the worst thing to happen to us. But still. How many other teams let a valuable thing like the $10M trade exception just expire like this? I think our front office lacks creativity.

They should offer the trade exception to Charlotte for Jason Richardson

Geoff,
So what DID happen at the team’s press conference? Any word on Summer League signees? Baron opting in or out? Ongoing talks with Monta, Andris, or Kelenna?

Baron opted out!
