Pre-game (Rather, Maybe-I-Should-Stop-Calling-It-Pregame) Tidbits

* So, at shootaround today, Nelson got a little irritated with answering questions about Brandan Wright’s minutes. He said “I’m tired of answering questions about that.”
Guess who started? Yup. Brandan Wright. Again, he had a poor start. Two fouls in two minutes. First guy off the bench? No, not Anthony Randolph. Nor Ronny Turiaf. But Rob Kurz.
* Mickael Pietrus is back, but he’s coming off the bench now. I have a feeling he’s going to have a big game. Anyway, I was thinking … Azubuike is pretty much playing MPs position (since Maggette is an entrenched starter). Who wouold you rather have, MP or Azubuike?
* Jackson said his hand is improving, but he still doesn’t know if it will be OK by the Boston game. He was out tonight. And he’s on the bench this game. Last game, he was in the locker room. I asked him why does he sometimes watch games in the locker room. He said he does when he doesn’t have a blazer. Really? Seems like he could buy a blazer.
He said the games are much better from the bench than the locker room. He watched Crawford’s 50 from the locker room, but was on the bench from Atlanta, often the first one to greet Marco.

This should be our starting 5 every night (before Ellis return):
1. Belinelli
2. Azabuike
3. Randolph
4. Wright
5. Biedrins
After Ellis:
1. Belinelli
2. Ellis
3. Randolph
4. Wright
5. Biedrins
Let’s live and die with the young players.
Veterans like Crawford, Maggette and Jackson should be packaged away in deals for future draft picks or current veteran players that can have an impact on both ends of the court.

Nice work MT2. I say… keep bothering him about minutes for the youngsters!

what a pathetic team. This team is so bad they cannot even get rid of Al Harrington on the banner of the Contra Costa Times (up top). They may as well save Monta for next year.

AA: Right on! We’ll never live to see it with Nelson, tho. So I guess it’s dream on.
Marcus: Thanks for asking re Wright. Keep it up re AR as well. They both need the minutes — and we’re going nowhere anyway.

Let Maggette rest his hammies for as long as it takes. Give his minutes to Belinelli, Wright, Morrow.
If they can’t move Marcus Williams by the trade deadline, buy out the rest of his contract (they didn’t pick up his option for next year) and resign Hendrix. Williams was of no use to Nelson before; he has even less value now that Belinelli is playing and Monta is coming back. I think they hoped to trade him but I doubt anyone would want him. If he couldn’t get court time for the Warriors who were desperate for a point guard, other teams must know he was pretty awful. And to think we will have to give up a 1st round draft choice for him in the future

I can’t believe we chose DeMarcus Nelson over Richard Hendrix. DeMarcus is a horrible basketball player. He can’t make FTs, he can’t pass, he can’t shoot, he has more turnovers than assists. And he was our opening night start, lmao.

tough to call.. as much as i hate to admit it, when MP was actually TRYING hard, he was a game changer and extremely active.. he could get up there on the rebounds and block shots… also, his corner tres were deadly when he was on point. If only he could keep the same effort throughout the entire year..

Marcus, Pietrus has been in the league for a few years now and I think we all know pretty much what kind of player he is… Kelenna on the other hand is just getting a taste of the NBA ( i think 2.5 years now?)… so I’d have to pick Azubuike over Pietrus.
His assist attempts yesterday and that one assist to Andris in the beginning of the 2nd quarter last night was pretty. BTW, who would you pick?

if i were the W’s brass, at the money they’re making, KAz – but minus that, MP. he’s only 26 yrs old to KAz 25 and he’s a better 1on1 & help defender, plus he’s a more versatile defender than KAz; and b/c MP has the ability to guard a wider array of players, he’s also better at screen and roll.
if MP’s FT% this year isn’t a fluke it makes it all the more obvious. the only things that make this close is MP’s propensity to foul and commit TO’s.
Jb, KAz has been in the league shorter, but most efficiency stats like PER show he’s basically been the same player this whole time. he is who is he is.

It’s getting old. run the same line up out already.
starting:
Biedrins C
Turiaf PF
Azibuke SF
Bellinelli SG
Crawford PG
run pick and roll with Craw/Biedrins, put Buke and Bellinelli in the corners and Ronny backside block or switch Craw and Bellinelli. someone will be open, Dunks or 3′s.
Second Unit
Turiaf C
Wright PF
Morrow SF
Bellinelli SG
Watson PG
Run pick and roll with Ronny/Bellinelli put Morrow and Watson in the corners with Brandon on the backside block. and someone tell Morrow to be ready to shoot, then shoot!
3rd Unit
Biedrins C
Randolph PF
Morrow SF
BellinelliSG
Williams PG
Even though he’s in the doghouse, MWill can find the shooters, cutters and alley oops. let him play a little. I just wouldn’t play Crawford more than 30 minutes a night unless he’s on fire, he’s too streaky.
But run it out there like this. Every night, everyone would know what to expect.

If we have all our vets in:
Biedrins C
Wright PF
Jackson SF
Ellis SG
Crawford PG
Run same p/r with Jax/Biedrins with Ellis and Crawford in the corners, brandon backsid block. Or any combination of the 3 back court players. Boy, this makes me realize how much we really miss Ellis. that sure jumper!
2nd Unit
Turiaf C
Randolph PF
Magette SF
Buke SG
Ellis PG
you are going to need Magette at times when Ellis has a tough time creating his shot. don’t worry about having shooters out there with the ball in Magette’s hands. Go to the boards!
3rd unit
Biedrins C
Turiaf PF
Morrow SF
Ellis SG
Bellinelli PG
Why not go small and big? really cross em up Nelson. Plus you have guys that are going to try defensively and shooting percentage of this unit should be about 50% or more. Get the European union going! and get Ellis out on the one man fast break!!!
December 23rd, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Id have to go w/ Azubuike or Pietrus. Pietrus was so frustrating to watch. He would occasionally dazzle you, but he wasnt consistent at all. Besides he couldnt dribble or create his own shot. Azubuike can do both. Also Azubuike is really starting to hit the Boards and play defense. He is WAY more consistant.
December 23rd, 2008 at 12:41 pm
I hate to be redundant but there is no reason for the W’s to play Maggette and Crawford ahead of Bellinelli and Randolph, duh we are losing at pretty steady clip. Starting lineup
Bellinelli PG
Ellis 2G
Beidrins C
Randolph SF
Wright PF
There is no reason not to throw Bellinelli in at point with Crawford backing him up. This will never happen though because it makes sense for the future and obviously the W’s cabn only see as far as their next loss. In spite of Nelson and Rowell GO Warriors!!

This is ridiculous. I wish I was born a Celtics fan!
