Nelson's great 'cause HE took us to the postseason once in the last 4 years after a 12 year drought.

Mullin's out 'cause HE ONLY got us to the playoffs once in the last 5 years, after a 12 year drought.

Mullin's out, Riley's in, 'cause it's UNACCEPTABLE for a 48-win team to finish a season 10-12. Everyone knows that kind of finish is the fault of the VP of Basketball Operations. The team hadn't previously won 48 games in the tenure of anyone in the building.

They're going to OPEN UP to all of us, to stem the disinformation out there, to right the wrongs, to give us the transparency we're longing for, through the hard-hitting professional moderation of their most balanced media employee, the TV anouncer.

sometimes what's negative, and skeptical, and sour, is actually the rotten truth.

I've been a fan since Bill King broadcast the games on KFRC. Don't believe this crap. If everything were okay with ticket sales, they wouldn't be holding this conference call. This is a bad team and adding a player or two, unless it's a Kobe or LeBron, won't bring the playoffs. During the last 15 years struggling teams like Denver, Atlanta(with even worse management), Portland, etc., have changed course, drafted or traded for good players, and are in the playoffs. Even Boston went from great, to terrible, and back to great during that time. All we get from Warrior management is excuses and empty promises. It's sort of like Linus and Lucy with the football. Next year, Rowell and Riley, if still there, will have another conference call to tell us that they are also angry at the poor showing and the Warriors will be better in 2010-2011. I think if they want credibility, they need to do what the Hawks did several years ago, guarantee the playoffs to season ticket holders and if they don't make it, give them their money back!

Hey MT,

Jack of course was acting as his own agent. Is it possible Rowell snookered him with the fine print?

If so, that would be worthy of a very interesting article - more diabolical than some innocuous PR post, I'd say.

I was a season ticket holder from 72 to 82. I sat behind the visting teams bench[row a]and used too talk to the players and explain the game to Franklin Mueilli, when he came sat with us! I think getting rid of Mullins was a great move. When Nellie got here he cleaned out those disgusting contracts the Mullins gave to FOYLE_McMURPHYand DEADlevy. He was the 1 that orchersted that trade! I'd like to know where's the heart and soul [AL ATTLES] of the WARRIORS? When reading this forum I couldn't figure out that no 1 said that we could of started Randolph and other young players and give them NBA time and hurry the future up. Jackson should not be allowed to bring the ball up-he led the league in turnovers- Next year well be the same, no wins and talent sitting and rotting on our bench! Remember and learn you can win more then 25 games with our first and 2nd year men!THE WARRIORS DON'T HAVE A CLUE AND NEVER WILL!~ OH BY THE WAY WHEN WE GET THE TEENAGER [PG] THAT WENT TO EUROPE INSTEAD OF SCHOOL ARE WE GOING TO PARK HIS BUTT ON THE BENCH?Get rid of Nellie and let the boys play.

I should add (as I have on Tim's blog repeatedly), the one guy I dislike in the Warrior's organization more than any is Rowell (and perhaps Cohan, by extension). Having met Rowell, I can't think of anyone being anymore disingenuous and salesmanlike in their presentation than him. He oozes snake oil. His comments here really underline that fact.

I'm not sure the comments were directed at you, Marcus, specifically. Steinmetz has been a target recently, and he's moved on to FanHouse at AOL, so I think there might have been some post-partum shots there. Also, I would think Lepper would appear to be a more salient target since he currently is without a true beat-writer's job anymore. Maybe there's a dig at Kawakami, since he's the guy experimenting with other media the most (Facebook, Twitter, etc.), and could be thought of as someone preparing himself for a future 'beyond' strict news reporting.

As for the overall talk, I do give them credit for taking this "talk to the fans" approach, but I agree that it comes off as forced and not truly open. What I don't get is that, if they are so concerned about the influence that these blogs have gotten, why aren't they smart enough to create more blogs of their own. Fight fire with fire. If they really want to be more transparent, give fans that insight and opportunity to comment and interact. Hell.. they could even afford to allow their PR folks reveal themselves and interract openly with the fans. It's the secrecy and, as you point out MT, the lack of communication that has done them in.

Trying to manipulate a conversation will still smell like manipulation. Riley seemed candid, though, so, while he might be a Nellie ball-boy in the grand scheme of things, he at least provided comments that went beyond the saying a lot but saying nothing m.o. that can become too commonplace with front-office suits. Whether everything he says is true or not, of course, remains to be seen. We've all seen in the past that Nellie is a master of misdirection. I'm just wondering if all the praise for Ellis was just a way to disguise the notion that they may, in fact, include him in a deal to land the big fish they keep implying they need.

This troubling story shouldn’t be surprising at all to us who REALLY know what team execs and media journalists are all about. They are in bed together and their relationships are interwinded on a give and take basis. Rowell is an idiot for pushing Mullin out the door….PERIOD….I don’t care what lame excuses come out of Rowells, Rileys, (the mysteriously silent Nelson) and puppet Fitz mouth regarding Mullins dismissal.

The W’s need to sign a proven veteran leader at the point like Andre Miller and draft one of these players if they don’t trade down…..

Tyreke Evans- tall, athletic big guard who can play the point, is excellant slasher, driving to basket and can play defense, needs to work on jumper. Potential to develop into a Derrick Rose type of player. Able to fit right in to W’s style of play. W’s need to see how he would fit handling the ball.

Brandon Jennings- smallish PG will need a couple of years to develop and make an impact IMO. Plenty of talent there but needs to get stronger and play better defense…will he compliment the rest of the players or not help at all.

Stephon Curry- the best pure shooter in this draft, who needs to get stronger, but some serious potential if he can play the PG in the NBA. Needs work on defense footwork. The W’s need to seriously consider him if they can get a grasp of his ability at the point position at the next level and if he would fit their style.

Earl Clark- athletic 6-9 small forward along the lines of Wright and Randolph already though. Can cause matchup problems and can grab rebounds but needs to develop jumper and learn some more slashing moves.

Deron Derozan- another athletic big small forward type who is a good offensive rebounder, and is more of big swingman who needs to develop a jumper.
