Not sure when this turned into the Heisman Trophy race or MLB’s MVP with the team’s record automatically eliminating candidates.

Monta has no competent scorer in the post to draw attention away nor a true point setting him up for easy hoops. He lost the second best player on the team to trade for nothing in return and they have suited up 8 players more than any team in league.

Averaging 27 points, 4 boards, 2 steals, and 5 assists shooting almost 47% and leading this group to over a dozen wins warrants a spot as a reserve or at least the first replacement.

If Monta had Nene, Carmelo, and Kenyon running up the floor with him every game that would only increase his field goal % along with his assist total.

Billips is not even averaging 20 points with only 6 assists a game. The guy is barely logging over 30 minutes a game and is shooting 42% from the field.

Not being chosen as a reserve cannot be qualified as a snub and I imagine the lack of respect for Nelson amongst the coaching community didn’t help Monta’s chances.

Having Billips named as the first reserve or saying Chris freaking Kaham, Josh Smith, David Lee, or MO Williams have a bigger gripe is a slap in the face.

Monta in a better team is an all star player. He has to become a better finisher next year and he will be in.

With Chris Paul injured, hopefully now monta will actually make it, but knowing the league and David stern thy will probably take Chauncey billups and his good guy reputation.

No snub if the coaches were clearly not going to put any player from a losing team on. Same deal with D Rose in the East. I look on that list and cannot make the argument that Monta is having a better year than any sub in the West. Also, Billups should get the nod over him. Denver is the second best team in the West and yet they were lost without Chauncey.

To play devil’s advocate, I am not sure I remember the last time a player from such a truly awful team.I mean three d-leaguers and Rad and George in the rotation, and your PG is a rookie – even though Curry is a top three rookie in the league, coached by a coach who just does not care? That is a terrible team. To be one of only four players in the history of the league to average 25+ P, 5+ assists and 2+ steals is not just having a “good”year. Still, MOnta is getting a rep as a volume shooter. No fault of his, as Maggette (and Curry a little) are the only players other than him who can even score on this terrible terrible team. When three guys are guarding you every time you dribble the basketball, it is a little hard to be as efficient, and the fact that he is shooting 45% under those conditions is amazing.

Bottom line, coaches decided no players from losing teams, and using that yardstick, MOnta did not get screwed.’

Ellis compares statistically to all those all star guards: Deron Williams, Brandon Roy, D-Wade.
During the season, he outplayed the Eastern Conference all stars: Derrick Rose and Rondo. The NBA coaches are so biased in the West that they don’t have the insight to realize that if Ellis had Carlos Boozer or Pau Gasol on his team, he would put up the same numbers and be the same All-Star that he is now. If Danny Granger can make the all-star team last year on a losing team, why can’t a better Monta Ellis make it this year?

Not a snub in most people’s opinion…but hopefully Monta takes it as a personal snub and unleashes All-Star play the rest of the season on the coaches that didn’t vote him in.

The only people scoring above monta are kobe, melo, lebron, durant and d wade. how are you mentioned with that group of guys and not make the all star team. Why is everyone hyped up on the record of the teams? the point of this game is to put the best of the best in, and that is truely monta. All the haters need to recognize how special he is.

I do not get how anyone says Monta was not snubbed! Look at his numbers? 26 ppg, 5.5 asst, 4 boards, and 2.5 steals? He is only the second player in league HISTORY not to get in while putting up 26 ppg and dishing out 5+assists. What does the guy have to do? put up 30 and 10? You can not punish a player on a bad team, Monta plays with a rookie, no true big man, and 3 D-league players, come on give the kid some credit.
