You won’t find 400 players to take the place of the NBA vets and rookies. The owners wouldn’t try it now like they didn’t try it in 98-99. Not only is the level of play bad(look at NBDL highlights), but the draw of the NBA is the star players. No one pays to see bench players. What’s more, ESPN/TNT/ABC and all the local tv contracts if not null and void, will be severely reduced.

I would take the money, but I hope the players decertify. I’ve really come to dislike Stern. The only solution is to decrease player salaries? What about owners overpaying? Or placing teams in markets that can’t support them? Ron- you should check out the NBDL! They aren’t as good and its cheap and they do play defense!

#2. I disagree. I bet there are alot of guys out there willing to play in the NBA. Gratefully play for a lot less than what the current group gets paid. True not the same level of talent we are used to but I bet they would actually put some energy into playing defense and it would not cost a small fortune to see a game from the lower bowl.

Typical management ploy. The owners know the players are the league. Unlike your job or mine, they can’t be replaced. What the owners are hoping for is the non-stars and rookies will pressure the union to vote for the last proposal. We’ll see. Now, I forcast, many players will file a decertification petition putting pressure on the owners to offer a better deal.

This deal seems vindictive. Why are the owners so angry? Beccause they bought NBA teams of their own free will? Because they signed players to bad contracts?
