Jeremy Lin Waived

The Warriors have waived guard Jeremy Lin, a team sources confirmed.

The second year guard was pulled from practice and told he was released. According to one source, it was a salary cap move. More coming …

Marcus Thompson

WOW, i smell something coming very soon. Monta Ellis was not in practice so was Jermie Lin. Now that jermie Lin was waved to create cap space, that means Monta Ellis is on a deal.
News of the trade will come very soon at the end of the day i believed.

  • thexchange

whos the backup pg gonna be now? cp3? lol

  • ChuckDurn

Interesting. Lin makes the league minimum (or really, really close). Also, given that Thompson and Tyler have intentionally not signed deals, it’s evident that the Warriors have deals in the works to use every bit of the cap, prior to signing the rookies. Haven’t heard of takers for Turiaf….. maybe the Chandler deal is falling apart for the Knicks, and the W’s are getting him after all?

Hopefully he gets a spot on the Warriors D-League team at the least.

  • dfdf

at least he has a education =]

  • Chan

Damn it will hella rub the warriors in the face if he gets signed by miami and miami wins the championship this year

  • asdf

I really think the Lakers should pick him up. He hustles like nobody’s business, is young, and is great at stealing the ball.

  • Wayne

I think it is pretty chicker to draft a guy, not play him very much and get rid of him the next year. Jeremy Lin war a good player in college and had some potentials for the big league but never given the chance with the Warriors. Now, the rumor is Monte Ellis is going to be traded. He is a proven player and a go to the bucket guy that Curry is not. Bad mistake unless they got someone like Lebron James,Chandler, etc. Otherwise another bad Warrior move.

  • JeremyLinFan

The only reason I even watch the Warriors and would buy their products is because of Jeremy Lin. They just lost a customer.

  • Marcus

I mean….if I’m the Warriors ownership….If you’re gonna cut a guy, minus whale be the guy who went to his DUI court hearing, legally drunk.

  • Twinkie defense

Lin makes less than $800k, that’s no salary cap move… are they making way for a return of Agent Zero or something? lol

  • bruin408

How can you be a Warrior fan just because of Lin?

It can’t have anything to do with basketball, since he clearly wasn’t NBA-ready and never deserved a guaranteed 2-year contract in the first place. It was a horrible basketball decision, clearly made strictly for PR and marketing reasons. (And based on some of the responses here, it worked brilliantly in that aspect…but did nothing to improve the club).

The fact that Lacob cut him gives me some hope that he may be listening to his brain-trust and isn’t too proud to correct his past mistakes.

  • DizzleFizzle

disappointed jeremy didn’t get a chance. the kid works hard, gives you defensive energy off the bench and is a role player winning teams love. i expect he will get his shot with another team, the lakers, cavs, and mavs were after him last year and he is an inexpensive asset. i hope the dubs do something b/c honestly jlin was one of the main reasons i would be interested in watching this team – to see if he develops and plays the way he can and has at every other level. this team is frankly terrible otherwise and just plain irrelevant. good luck jeremy, i hope you get a shot with the lake show! LA will love you.

Marcus did you just say “minus whale”?? what the f*ck is that, a whale that has an affinity for negative signs? it’s “might as well” you moron, get an education and learn how to speak english.

  • Warriors4Life

hahaha “minus whale”… that is the worst butchering of that term i’ve ever heard…

  • JJ

    Hey Wayne,

The Warriors didn’t draft Lin; in fact, nobody did. He was signed as a rookie free agent.

  • lol

LOLLLLL I didn’t understand the minus whale part till I read the more recent comments, thought that fool was on drugs or something when he typed that

  • Permabear

I was rooting for Lin to succeed but I didn’t see enough from him last year to even keep him around. He missed wide open shots and didn’t play at an NBA level.

  • Hush O

I can understand Lin being the first player to get cut for cap reasons. He didn’t have a garanteed contract.. and there’s a good chance that he’d still be available if the W’s really want to pick him up again. But it is pretty bizarre that Jackson’s been talking about defense all this time, and arguably the best 1-on-1 defender on the roster gets cut before the coach’s first practice session even comes to an end…….

  • harry leong

what happens to lin now since he is let go, salary, etc

  • zxcvb

He played great defense and his ball-handling was improving, but fans and coaches only wanted scoring.
So I’m glad to see him go — he can find a team that actually values defense and can make the playoffs more than once every two decades.

Now what? The Warriors hand over backup PG duties to a mid-major combo-guard who has never played a single minute of NBA or even summer league basketball? They better be signing CP3…

  • NoMoreWarrior

Start today, I will not watch/care warrior game anymore.

  • edc

Too bad, it looks like the same old Warriors. Let’s get rid of the really hard working guy that isn’t a head case. I mean, how much cap space are you really saving?

  • getjie

Understandable that the W’s would opt not to keep Lin if something is in the works. The concern here is that I haven’t seen anything that suggests Charles Jenkins is an upgrade. He’s 2 inches shorter than Lin, doesn’t defend nearly as well, and is more of a 2 guard than a PG. I suppose this shortfall can be covered by overplaying the starting guards…until one of them gets hurt.

  • GSW Fan

Meanwhile Acie Law is still kept on board? In all honesty, Lin was on a whole different leven than Law but he never got the chance or the minutes to show for it. I hope hope hope Lin signs with either Dallas or LA (the two teams who pursued him last year) and get treated better.

You can see the talent in the kid, and if you watch the last few games of last year you can see how far he’s come along. Pretty disappointed right now… the Warriors better have something up their sleeve to show for this.

  • Jeremylove

I think it’s a good move, they should trade Jeremy to a team that will give him more game time.

  • JimPunkrockford

minus whale cut lin, really not up to NBA standards.

would you rather have goran “throw in” dragic? really he had some real flashes of being a decent player.

  • DubsFan

Cutting Jlin was a bad move. They keep Bell, who was the least productive player on the team and got arrested, Law, who was terrible, could not shoot and racking up turnovers every minute, and Jenkins who has not been proven at the pro level or really at the college level. At least Lin can sign with another team where he will thrive.

THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE FUNNIEST THING I’VE SEEN ALL YEAR!! YOU CAN’T BUY COMEDY LIKE THAT!!!

  • kim

As a Canadian living in Toronto. I am a big fan supporting an underdog JLin. He can hustle and quick. He was never really given a chance to play. I and my friends will no longer buy warrior products when we go border shopping in New York state.

  • Modus

Well, no reason to go to “Warrior’s” games now.

  • Frank

very funny and interesting how they didn’t really give this guy a real chance. In the eyes of both business and basketball, Jeremy Lin was a great choice to pick. His steals and overall skill showcase and his past records during highschool + college have been great… even with all the pressure as an asian. Second off, since lin’s young and has time to grow and develop… when he will begin to start for the team and really show some colors.. man, that’s serious $$$$$$$, especially from not only fans of the team + nation but also across the globe.

  • Andy M.

“Minus Whale” has to be the funniest thing I’ve seen all year. That has made my nigh LOL

  • j.hayes

Having Lin on the team really does not make a difference. He is not good enough to make a substantial impact on an NBA team. He is a fan favorite and that’s pretty much it. I like his attitude and game but its not something that the W’s will miss or regret losing.

Knicks getting the beneifit of the warriors having another case of “the road to hell being paved with good intentions”

    Who’s the Minus Whale now?

  • Tom Cheung

    Ha ha ha
    Knicks Fan here.
Thank you very much for Knicks to have Jeremy Lin!!!

  • grate

    HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the Warrior Fans were correct after all, maybe the owners should’ve listened. I literally laughed out loud reading the following comments (I reposted them made by J Hayes) made on December 13th 2011, and tbh some of the other comments too. Guess we can all agree “J Hayes” was wrong about one thing…Lin has made a substantial impact on an NBA team, one that no one expected.

I never follows the Warriors so I don’t know if the dynamic was wrong or what, but it sounds like from all of the fans commenting, the Warriors should have at least given him a chance. I love to read fans comments and it sounds like most fans were upset to lose him. I know this Thunder Fan will be watching the Knicks closely..I imagine all of the Eastern & Western Conf. will too.

  • Morris Jackson

I think the coach and manager of the Warrior need to be waived. Hahaha.
