Yes, I did forget to mention the defense...this too has a good chance of lasting...

Defense, unlike shotmaking, is less likely to come and go. They really ARE playing good defense (and it's a good thing, as the offense has struggled...).

Consider this...both Curry and Thompson are shooting under 40%...this will not last.

David Lee is averaging only 15 points a game...this will not last.

The Warriors are getting virtually zero offense from the center position...this will not last (unless Bogut is out all year...who knows with this??).

Harrison Barnes is looking more and more like Klay Thompson last year; not in style, but in substance...slow start, growing and getting better and better. I like that he has been looking for his shot from the first game, and is handling the ball at the initiation of the offense with frequency, and he handles the ball pretty well. This WILL last, with him improving game by game.

With all this going on, they are at .500, and they should have beaten Denver. This too, will hopefully not last, and see them rising above .500. They have not proven anything yet, but there is hope. And this is better than we have seen many, many times in the past.

Great analysis, MT. Puts you WAY ahead of Steinmetz (who has never warmed to Curry as a pg) and Bucher (who recently has stated he doesn't think Curry is a pg). Curry is going to be a very good pg. Your analysis is right on. In fact, I even go a little beyond your evaluation--I agree with Nellie on this:Curry has a lot of Nash in him and as he continues to improve, he will develop more of those types of dribble penetration playmaking skills. He probably will never quite as effective as dissecting a defense as Nash with dribble penetration and dishing but he'll be very good at it, and he'll be an even better outside shooter.

Biggest problem with curry at the point is he doesnt want to play it. He REFUSES to consistently Set up others. Or look for them
In early offense. Jack does so he is a much better point guard now. And it's not close....

Great writeup. The only thing I would add about Curry is that he is playing pretty well, in spite of obvious weakness in that right ankle. You can tell he is protecting it -- he avoids hard pivots, landing on it when he jumps, etc. So I think that's why his shot has been off, and why he gets easily trapped in double teams. He's just not as strong as he used to be. But he'll get there as he plays more and builds more strength and confidence in the ankle.

Regarding Curry, this is exactly why Mark Jackson needs to go and be replaced by someone like Jerry Sloan. Curry is not going to blow by any defender to create for his teammates. He needs a good offensive scheme in order to be productive. Under Mark Jackson, the Warriors now rank #25 in offensive efficiency!

Remember another PG who was a great shooter, but not the quickest nor a great defender (but was tough-midned)? John Stockton! Who is a Hall of Famer partly because of Sloan!

The Warriors signed Curry to a $44M extension, and they need to get their money's worth by providing a structure so Curry can succeed. The bottom line is that Mark Jackson is not up to that task.
