The Warriors and adidas to Unveil Revolutionary New Uniform

On Monday, the Warriors will unveil their yellow, alternate uniforms. They will be the first team in the modern NBA era to play in something other than a tank top.

The Warriors will debut the new unis for their Feb. 22 home game against the San Antonio Spurs, which is being aired on ESPN. They will also wear them March 8 vs. Houston and March 15 vs. Chicago.

    This is retarded and ugly.

  • Larkspur Bob

Look great! Will look even better in the new arena in SF.

  • East Bay Ray

Not a fan of the sleeves or the pinstriped shorts, but I love the yellow, and I love the subtler bridge logo in the center. Eager to see this in game action.

  • Jet_BlackBeard

I’m out of shape, so I wouldn’t wear it. But I like the courage in embracing change. If we were always averse to something different, we’d all still be rocking short shorts for basketball.

  • Grey Warden

It would look better with darker colors, not bright colors like yellow.

  • Love the yellow color, but the sleeves are totally unnecessary. So many seams in such a small area. Have NBA players been complaining about tank tops for the last 75 years? College players barely wear undershirts anymore.
I think this is just to be different, not better or “revolutionary.” Change is often good, and these unis look great, the sleeve is just unnecessary and bleh.

  • The Moses Gun

Absolutely a bold choice. People need to embrace change – If not we’d still be rockin Daisy Dukes (supa short shorts) and canvas gym shoes.

MT, I have not commented much on your column since the “We’re taking our talents to the Waterfront” press conference hosted by Lacob and crew, but this one merrits some comments.

Hmmmm, it needs something. Make the players grow handlebar moustaches so when the teams brings back the nut-hugger shorts too, this uniform will be complete. It looks like a 1920s men’s bathing suit.

Like one of the other commenters said, I applaud the courage to try something new. But like another commenter said, this jersey will look better in SF. Please take my Eastern Span off this travesty. You SF folks can have this jersey. Put the GGB on it and bounce.

  • Morgan Ross

@John Starks – I am from the east as well, and don’t have a problem with it. Also, try an image search on Google. Most 1920 men’s bathing suits were vests like traditional Basketball uniforms.

  • csagustin

the style and thread i guess i could get used too. guess it will be a must for warrior players to be athletic, those jerseys will not look good on a (oliver miller type player ) .wish it was fashioned more like our home white jersey style though ..

  • John Starks

@Morgan Ross – Ok Ok Ok, jokes aside, I’m not a fan of the uniforms. Seriously, part of my litmus test is envisioning somebody wearing one in a pickup game and I just don’t see that happening any time soon. Can you see somebody wearing one of these at the Rucker?

Of course, I dont have the benefit of a paid marketing staff to tell me that jerseys concepts like this will work. Nor do I play at the Rucker. What do I know? I will, however, refrain from making further comments on this topic.

    Mr. Thompson, proceed sir.

  • Steve

If the Dubs win 50-60 games each (regular) season and a few championships along the way these jerseys will rock like no others in sports.

  • Niners in 2012

Ugly in gold! They might look decent in blue.

  • Gabriel

I like it! Innovative and retro at the same time.

  • reppinwarriors

Love the gold color and design, do not like the not matching shorts, colors don’t match the top..also i know its suppose to be a shirt but they could have put blue outlining to have a jersey with an under shirt look.

The best way to market a team and to enhance it’s name/reputation is to WIN and WIN consistently.
