‘Splash Brothers 2’ Now Showing in Santa Cruz

The Santa Cruz Warriors, Golden State’s NBA Development League affiliate, announced Friday they acquired Seth Curry, as expected.

The younger brother of Warriors Stephen Curry was planning to join the Santa Cruz team if he didn’t make the team. Seth Curry, Dewayne Dedmon and Joe Alexander all were designated for Santa Cruz under the affiliate rule, which allows teams to assign players who were cut from training camp.

But that’s not all. According to a source with knowledge of the move, the D-League Warriors also acquired Mychel Thompson, the brother of Golden State guard Klay Thompson. That means Santa Cruz will feature brothers of the Splash Brothers.

Mychel Thompson — the older brother of Klay had a cup of coffee with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2011-12 — spent most of last season with D-League team in Sioux Falls. He averaged 12.2 points and shot 35.8 percent from 3.
