Richmond moving ahead on Pt. Molate

Months after the death knell sounded for the glitzy casino-hotel resort on Richmond’s Point Molate waterfront, the city is hoping to persue other options for the land.
The city’s contract with developer Upstream Point Molate included a 120-day window for Upstream to come up with a new proposal should the City Council reject the casino project (which they did).
Well it’s been about 120 days, and on August 16, the city filed a complaint in Contra Costa County Superior Court seeking confirmation that Richmond can persue other options with the land.
Upstream has paid the city $15 million of the $50 million cost for the land and is making $90,000 monthly payments to the city.
The city attorney’s office did not return calls for comment.
