If you hear a loud commotion Friday night in Albany, El Cerrito or Richmond like a party is rolling through — it is.

The monthly traveling event known as the East Bay Bike Party is setting out at 7:30 p.m. Friday from the Del Norte BART station in El Cerrito “for a shoreline cruise through Albany and Richmond,” rounding out the night with a block party at the shop of cycling advocacy group Richmond Spokes at 322 Harbour Way.

The outings of costumed riders — this month’s theme is “Under the Sea” so think of jellyfish, mermaids and other types of costumes and decorations — are boisterous, but law-abiding. You welcome to join the ride or just come out and watch it roll by.
The event will likely happen rain or not, said Richmond Spokes founder Brian Drayton.

The evening outing is even getting an official welcome on the city’s digital marquee at Civic Center Plaza on Macdonald Avenue.

Rules for the monthly rides: “Stay Right, Stop at Lights, Ride Straight, Don’t Hate, Pack Your Trash, Don’t Get Smashed (i.e. Ride Sober).” Learn more at eastbaybikeparty.wordpress.com.
