RICIHMOND — Every Tuesday night, the Up & Under Pub and Grill in Pt. Richmond hosts a raucous Trivia Quiz competition. Teams of one to six members really get into it. Our team, “The 6 Specs” (we all wear glasses) came in first on Tuesday.
We wracked our brains extra hard because pub owner/manager Nathan Trivers offered a first prize of $100, second prize of $75 and third prize of $50 to the teams’ favorite charities.
When our team asked to split the $100 between A Safe Place, a battered women’s shelter in Oakland, and the Alameda County Community Food Bank, Nathan generously doubled his pledge.
Each organization will receive $100.
We were all so touched, first by the terrific idea and then by the doubling. No prize of a bottle of wine or free appetizer could compete with these donations, especially this time of year.
