RICHMOND, Calif.,Dec. 5, 2012–A Richmond-based professional security services company, DP Security, has been awarded a new multi-year contract to provide and manage security services at Chevron’s Richmond Refinery.

DP Security was selected through a competitive bid process and was awarded the contract due to their extensive experience and strong commitment to employing local Richmond residents. Most of the current staff will be retained under this new contract for DP Security to manage the Refinery’s security services and personnel.

“As a Richmond company, I’m personally very excited at this new opportunity to work with our community’s largest employer and economic driver,” said Michael Davenport,CEOand President of DP Security. “We look forward to partnering with Chevron to provide job opportunities for Richmond residents as we grow and expand our business.”

DP Security began management of the Refinery security services on November 1st, 2012 and is known for its meticulous selection and training of security personnel. The company was founded in Richmond by Davenport in 1996 and has served a diverse array of clients, including the West Contra Costa County Unified School District, Point Molate and Marina Bay.

“We are pleased to award this contract to DP Security, a Richmond company,” said Nigel Hearne, the Refinery’s General Manager. “This new relationship builds on our commitment to support the City’s economic development and improve the quality of life for local residents. We believe retaining contractors from Richmond and spending locally will create a stronger Richmond economy, which is not only good for people living in this community but is also good for the long-term success of the Refinery and the City.”

The contract with DP Security is just one example of how Chevron has been actively working to increase its use of local businesses to purchase goods and services for Richmond operations. Since 2011, Chevron has spent approximately $30 million with more than 50 companies in Richmond and West Contra Costa County.
